Alright, first things first. It's raining again, like crazy. I'm not sure who taught the Korean's their seasons, but I think they just need to redo it all and make 3 seasons. They are as follows. November-February: Cold (We can keep this the same and just call it Winter). March-April: Pleasant. May-October: Oh my goodness. What is going on? It's like we are all inside a giant sauna!! Somebody find the off button and please for the love of all that is good stop drenching us with boiling water! Turn the heat down!!! Hey look, a nice breeze... *BAM* Another rainstorm in 110 degree weather. When will this end?! I feel like I am melting. Is this sweat or rain on my face? I honestly have no idea!
Okay, maybe that last one is a bit long to be the name of a season. I'll need to reassess and get back to you :) This week, surprise surprise flew by. So on Tuesday we went to our first district meeting of the transfer, and the transfer is more than halfway over! We have just been so busy traveling that we haven't been able to justify adding one more meeting to the list. After the meeting, I went on an exchange with another Elder in my district and Elder Lyu (my companion) went with his companion. We both stayed in their area though because on Wednesday, Elder Lyu had to go home. I'm not sure how much or if I have even mentioned this at all, but Elder Lyu has a chronic sinus condition that he needs surgery to fix. When he gets the surgery, he will need to basically be on bedrest for 2 weeks afterward, so our mission President decided that it would be best if he went home to have the surgery done. So, on Wednesday he went alone back to his hometown to make arrangements for the surgery. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't go with him because his hometown is Incheon, which is right next to Seoul. I would have loved to see Seoul, but instead I worked in a tripanionship for the day with the other Elders in our district. Being in a tripanionship was fun for a day, but I can tell that being in one for any extended amount of time would just be inconvenient. Too many opinions and people to keep track of and anytime you try to talk to somebody on the street, you scare the living daylight out of them. (Imagine 3, 6 foot tall white Americans approaching a little asian man trying to tell him about a book he needs to read) yeah, so I was glad it only lasted for a day.
Fridays are tied to be my favorite day of the week with Sundays. (Both better than P-day!) Friday we get to meet with our English class. I absolutely love my English class. We have 14 regular "students" who come each week, and it isn't really even a class, but more of a free talking group. They all speak English well enough to have conversations. They have all become close friends to me and one of them has even come to be known as my Korean mom. (every missionary needs a Korean mother, otherwise they have no hope of becoming truly Korean). (To my REAL mother, no worries, she is in no way a replacement or even in competition, it is simply a title). Anyway, she gave me my Korean name this week.^^ I was so excited. It is 한민우 (Han Min Ooh) and it means "friend to the Korean people" How cool is that? During the class and dinner afterward, she kept calling me Min-Ooh and each time it tugged at my heart a little bit. I know it's a bit mushy and dramatic, but it actually had sentimental value to me right off the bat. I love Korea. I love Koreans. I'm so lucky to be here.
Sunday was good. I got to go to church!! I love church, it's so great!! The branch president inadvertantly has started a tradition where, after the 2 hours of church, I teach and play games with the children in the branch. I love kids, so I really don't mind at all. Yesterday though, they wanted to play Uno, BUT none of them had ever played before. I had to teach them how to play Uno... in Korean! You don't realize how complex the rules to Uno are until you try explaining them in a different language. Luckily though, they understood me and we were able to actually play! It was a simple thing but it made me feel like a million bucks afterward :)
Okay, time is short today, so I apologize that this one is so short. Life is good, it's so hot here it's not even funny, I have lost 30 pounds total, and the church is true. Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, BIG news, but you will just have to wait until next week to find out. Hahaha!!
