Oh by the way...

Yeah, so I had a baptism this week... Sorry I didn't mention anything about it before. The truth is, we have had a couple close calls in the past, but inevitably one thing or another has come up that has prevented our investigators from getting baptized, so I decided just to keep the news under wraps until it was official. Also, since I post my weekly letter on a public forum, I'm not really supposed to talk a lot about sensitive information (ie: my investigators and or information about them) so if you were wondering why I don't go into super details about my investigators on here, that is why. Anyway, I will talk more about the baptism a little later, but first let me go over my week!

So, for starters, there has been this mega heat wave come over Korea for the last few days. I know I am beating a dead horse here telling you time and time again how hot it is, but let me give you just one more visual. We live about a 7 or 8 minute walk from the church. A couple days ago, (in the morning) we walked to the church equipped with hand-fans and everything. Still, when we reached the church, we were dripping with sweat, even to the point where my forearms were soaking wet. I don't ever remember my arms sweating before in America, but over here, they are basically water faucets. I guess the good news is that with all the sweating I do, my body gets rid of all the toxins in my skin, so my skin is super clear. Anyway, I'm floating off topic.

Monday, after P-day was finished, we traveled for 3 hours to Cheongju for a combined district meeting. We were supposed to stay at the Elder's apartment there, but there are already 4 missionaries living there, and the apartment is incredibly dirty and small, so they told Elder Lee and I that we needed to sleep at the church. The church has a basement with air conditioning and couches and everything, so I wasn't one to complain. But, at like 12:30 in the night, someone came to the church and "caught" us. It was the bishop. I guess nobody had informed him that missionaries would be sleeping at the church and he had gotten a text from someone saying they had seen some people at the church late at night. He was super nice though, it was just kind of unsettling being woken up in the middle of the night being asked who I was and why I was there in Asian.  Then the next day we had our meeting, and Elder Lee and I started the journey back home.

Wednesday we went to Yeongwol again to teach our investigator the last lesson and have her interviewed for baptism. Thursday I don't really remember what happened, so I'll just move on the the exciting day which was yesterday. So fun fact, yesterday was my 250 day mark on my mission ( I know I know, my counter thing on my blog is a little off). So 250 days after I started off, I finally had a baptism. To tell the truth, it really hasn't been bothering me that I haven't had a baptism up until this point. Of course, I want to find people and teach them the gospel but I have also come to realize that my primary purpose is to do the Lord's will. So I have been satisfied planting seeds and doing the best I can without seeing many outward results. The baptism yesterday though, was a really sweet moment. So let me explain the picture, me and my companion are standing in the back. I look super weird. And I'm not just saying that. I don't know what the deal was yesterday, but I assure you that is not how I look on a day to day basis. Anyway, Sister 이향자 (Hyangja Lee) is the woman and the man sitting next to her is the member who referred her to us. They are not married or dating or anything like that. Just 2 friends. The font in the church is INCREDIBLY small, and it's a bit awkward doing the full immersion in it. In fact, she had to be dunked 3 times before it finally worked out. It was a nice service, except for the 13 screaming children who treat church like a jungle gym, but that's pretty much a constant thing.

Finally, yesterday evening, Elder Lee and I went to try and find the address of a referral we had received from Church Headquarters. The area we went to was a little bit outside the city limits, and we have never really proselyted there before. Anyway, we didn't find the house, but the area that it is in is basically a grid system of rice paddys. So as we were walking home yesterday, there was a beautiful orange sunset, rice paddys all around, little hills in the distance, cranes flying all around us and cute little asian couples walking by. It was a scene from a movie. So yeah, just wanted to let you guys all know... again, that I live in paradise. It's so gorgeous here, I wish you could all be here to see.

Life is good here. Things are looking up for Jecheon. I'm happy and healthy, and my companion is the stinkin bomb! Have a good week everyone!
