Wow, what a week :) They just get faster and faster, and I'm still
just starting! We did a lot of service/travelling this week. Another
companionship in our area was moving, so we spent a day helping them
move. Then another day there was an elderly member in our ward who
asked us to come help him move some things at his house, so we went
about a half hour out of the main city to where he lives to help him.
He is RICH. He has a big house, even by American standards, in Korea.
Which means he is like twice as rich as that would make him in
America. Anyway, we moved some books and stuff from his bookshelves
upstairs to his bookshelves downstairs. It was fairly simple. But he
was so nice and had awesome food for us and taught us a lot about
Korean culture, the progress of the church and missionary work in
Korea etc. It was really cool. Oh, he also has a BUNCH of chickens. So
as we were leaving, he just grabs 3 or 4 eggs from one of the nests
(are they called nests? I'm not sure...) outside and gave them to us
as we were leaving. He also gave us a ream of paper for some reason
and a box of these things called Choco-pies. They are a really popular
Korean snack. Anyway, so there we were, me and my companion, two white
guys, talking to this super old Korean, waiting in the middle of the
boonies for a bus, while I am holding 2 eggs in one hand, and a sack
of other random things in the other. I don't know if I described it as
rediculous as it must have been for anyone who saw it in real life.
But it was at that moment that I really felt the feeling of "Yep, I'm
DEFINITELY on my mission. Where else would this EVER happen?" Haha. I
love it here.
Hopefully that gives you a good taste of how my week has been. Maybe
not. Oh well, I love you all and hope you are doing well!
