Yes, you heard right. The Korean plague is back and it is in full force. Already! I thought for sure that I would have a few solid months before becoming incapacitated again. Maybe my immune system is weak from only eating rice, ramen and Kimchi everday... Nah.. That can't be it. Hmm, it shall remain forever a mystery I guess. Although, my companion says that he thinks it is because I work too hard. HAHA!! I'd like to think that's the reason, but from my perspective, there is still TONS of improvement left before me, so I doubt I can be working "too hard" at this point..
Anyway, I am on the upswing of the plague already, so the blessing here is that it didn't last very long. My companion has had sinus issues for the last 7 transfers, (that's nearly a year for those of you who aren't familiar with fancy mission lingo). He has to get surgery, but he is trying to wait until he finishes his mission, in about 6 months. Yikes.
So guess what, do you want to hear something depressing? Yeah, me neither, but it happened so I am going to tell you whether you like it or not. FINALLY I had one of my investigators come to church. It's SO hard to get people to come to church here, I don't know why. Anyway, so she came and after the meeting, she rushed out the doors and the only thing she said to us before she left was, in translation "it's not a match for me". She is still considered an investigator because she still is wanting to meet with us, but primarily she just wants us to meet with her and her family so we can teach her children English. Which is quite discouraging. She has so much potential!! And as we have been teaching the lessons, she seems really open and receptive, but she doesn't like our church. Grrr... Sorry, I'm kind of rambling at this point. I just had such high hopes and expectations when she agreed to come to church, and now they are slightly deflated. (don't worry, I'm not giving up quite yet)
On a more positive note, another companionship in my district got 6 baptismal dates in one weekend last week, so the work is still hastening, even if right now I am not able to do a lot of the reaping. One thing I am learning is to accept the Lord's timing and His plans. In the Lord's toolshed, I might want to be sickle, but He might see me as better fit to be a shovel. In that case, if it's a shovel He wants, it's a shovel He'll get :)
I have been reading the conference issue of the Liahona a lot lately. THAT CONFERENCE WAS SOO GOOD!! Here's my challenge to all of you. Pick a talk, or two. Read it, and the incorporate it into your life. Missionary work, being faithful members, and trying to live like Christ is not what only missionaries do. Everyone needs to take part in building the Kingdom. Start with yourself and work your way out :)
I love you all, have a FANTASTIC week, and read your scriptures. They're good for you!
